Sindy's Recipe #2 Fruiteh Tarts


Ingredients
For tart shell~:
(makes approx. 30 shells)
  • 250g butter (cut into small cubes)
  • 3.5 cups of flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup water
For custard~:
(ratio for custard powder and sugar is 1:2, or u can follow the instructions on Custards powder's tin)
  • 2 tbs custard powder
  • 4 tbs sugar
  • 570ml of milk
Steps~
For tarts shell~
  1. combine flour, salt and butter until mixture is crumbly, best to use fingers =D
  2. add water slowly and stir until dough becomes a ball
  3. knead dough on a well flour-ed surface until smooth
  4. wrap it and refrigerate for 30 mins
  5. fill mould with dough, poke with fork and refrigerate for 15 mins again
  6. bake shells for about 20 mins at 200 degree

For custard~

  1. mix custard powder and sugar together with 2 to 3 spoonful of milk
  2. bring the rest of the milk to almost boil
  3. pour in the custard mixture and stir
  4. keep stirring until it thickens
  5. when it boils, remove from fire

Tips

  1. For a less messy and easier job, you may want to make dough into small balls of similar size before moulding it.
  2. Surface of custard hardens in quite a short time, sho you may want to prepare the fruits while baking the shells. It is not too late to prepare custard when the shells are ready. This saves time too =D
  3. Fruit tart tastes better when served cold .
